Duration 2 yrs

1 fellow taken every 6 months

Selection- interview

Stipend 40k

First month is orientation

From 2nd month onwards you see OP and posted for 3 months with each consultant.

Depending on your consultant, you are started on steps in retinal surgeries by 3rd month

You get steps in all retinal surgeries till the end of fellowship. Chances to do independent cases at the end are very few.

You also get hands-on for macular and RD surgeries and even some ILM peeling steps

Clinically you get to see good number of retina cases in OP

You also get to do retinal lasers and give intravitreal injections

ROP exposure is minimal since not many cases

Limited onco exposure, treatment is usually in conjunct with Oculoplasty dept

Uvea cases also seen and treated in VR dept

No phaco training.

Dept is hectic but chill

Work timings 9- 5.30 pm but can go till 7 pm sometimes

On call- you have at least 1 night call per month, 1 Sunday is hospital on call, another Sunday you are posted in their peripheral centre.

No camp duties.

Classes every day at 7.30 or 8 am, compulsory attendance for all fellows, common class for all fellows

Overall, you get steps for common retinal surgeries but still need more experience post fellowship to become an independent surgeon.
